Competitions
Wanderjahre – Wanderjahre, or “Wandering Years” was the medieval equivalent of taking a gap year. After completing an apprenticeship, a young craftsman might travel for several years taking on commissions and gaining experience. Only after completing their wanderjahre would they be promoted by the guild to the level of master in their craft.
Artisans are invited to craft items that a wandering craftsperson may have with them on their travels; a travel journal, sturdy boots, a coinpurse, or perhaps the tools of their trade.
“It’s Not a Phase!” High Gothic Illumination – A scribal competition focusing on woodcut style illumination and gothic art.
