On Target

May 13 2023 (0900 AM – 1000 PM )

The Barony of Lochmere once more invites archers to join their Barony at a scenic waterfront site in Annapolis, Maryland for a day of archery, an atlatl battle, good food and companionship. Weather permitting, we will try a night shoot again. Stick around after Feast to send flurries of glowing arrows hurtling through the night!
Shooting will commence around 10 am on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

As always, the main event will be the challenging walk-through shoot. The path climbs through some rolling hillside but is not particularly steep. An extra effort is being made to incorporate a variety of missile weapons into the shoot.

This will the fourth year in a row that we have worked to destroy the poison ivy on site. We have eliminated over 90% of it and the small percent left is an occasional random sprig of it that pops up in the forest or the few vines that are overhanging the water so that we can’t spray them down without getting poison in the water.

There will be a practice range set up for both target archery and atlatl.

Whether you shoot or not, the Barony encourages you to come for the food, the socializing with old and new friends and the time to work on small A&S projects. Musicians and singers are welcome as well. If you are a newcomer to the SCA, this is a nice, low key, no pressure event to learn about archery and some of the many A&S activities practiced in the Society.

Martial Activities: ARCHERY, including ATLATL. Archery/atlatl targets are set up in the surrounding woods and along the water for an interesting and challenging shoot. The practice range is available any time there is a marshal present.

Arts & Sciences Activities: All attendees are encouraged to bring small A&S projects to work on and share with others. There will be an embroidery solar. Be aware that there is limited space for displays. Covered space is even more limited. This is a small site, however, if individuals wish to conduct impromptu A&S classes within this limitation contact the autocrat and we’ll see what we can do.
