Nacht in der Stadt

23 April 2016

It is May 1564, Holy Roman Emporer Maxamillian II has sent his envoy Adam Zwetkovich to England. His public mission is to return the late Emperor’s insignia to Elizabeth. But privately, Zwetkovich is here to see if the Queen would be interested in a dynastic marriage between the Queen and Archduke Charles. Zwetkovich and his entourage have arrived in Smeewick on their way to London and will be spending a couple of days investigating the politics of England and the reputation of the virgin Queen. Join us as we entertain the travelers from Germany with a day of revelry, combat at arms, mutual learning, and feasting.

Autocrats: Mistress Arianna Morgan (chrissings[at]juno[dot]com) and Lady Gwen verch Llywelyn (kanamidori[at]gmail[dot]com)

Please do not park in front of the garage doors. The Fire Fighters may need to respond to an emergency during the day. Also, no parking on the Magothy Road side of the parking lot. That is reserved for the firefighters. There are plenty of parking spaces available in the parking lot.

You may gently drive onto the field to off-load your equipment, but please remove your vehicle as quickly as possible into the parking lot. Our Field Coordinator, Lord Cormacc ua Rigain, will be happy to guide you.

Lady Shannon inghaen Bhriain ui Dhuilleain is coordinating classes and competitions.  Competitions will include:

Beginner’s Showcase-Entries must be an item for which the skill was learned within the past year and which the artist has never before entered in a competition.  Documentation is required, with the EZ-Doc as the minimum accepted.  Participants may have multiple entries, but each entry must be from a different category (as defined for the Kingdom A&S Persona Pentathalon).  A prize will be awarded for first and second place.

Youth Competition-  Her Excellency Avice, Baroness of Fair Lochmere, calls to the Youth of our mighty Kingdom! Well pleased is She to look upon the works of art created by the Treasures of Atlantia, who are the future of our realm. Thus does she invite young artisans from across the land to bring their masterpieces to Nacht in der Stradt, to be entered in Her Youth A&S Challenge! Entries may be of any medium or skill within the scope of the SCA.

Baking Competition-  Sponsored by Mistress Arianna Morgan. Bring your tastiest treats to delight our tastebuds–sweet, savory, or sweet-and-savory. Your baked items need not be German–any sixteenth-century recipe is acceptable. However, know that bonus points will be awarded for German entries! At a minimum, please cite the source for your recipe. Additional documentation is appreciated. As always, please include a full ingredient list with your entry.
