Martial Activities

Atlantia’s premier rapier event beckons your attendance.  Lady Caitilin is preparing a day of rapier scenarios to test the skill and heart of each entrant.  There will be a variety of melee scenarios.  In addition, combat archery and thrown weapons will be on site.  Rapier combatants who wish to authorize should be ready by 9:00 A.M.  Please forward any concerns/questions to Lady Caitilin at: solarandraste[AT]yahoo.com

Arts and Sciences

The event theme is Late Period Italian Accessories 1400-1600.  There will be 3 levels of competition: beginner, intermediate and advanced. Documentation is required for the competition. The competition will be managed by Lady Genevieve Dompier Du Marche (Karen Kalbaugh).

There will be an Arts and Sciences Display as well in the theme of late period Italian.  Documentation is not required, but encouraged. Those looking to receive feedback on their display will need to bring suitable accommodations (a notebook and writing utensil). The display will be managed by Dona Rita De Tacoronte.

There will also be a children’s and adult beginner scroll competition.  The first competition will be for children only. They may submit a scroll blank with any desired decoration such as: cartoon characters (dare we hope for My Little Pony or TMNT?) , dinosaurs(Rrooooaaarr), sports motifs, toys (Princess Elsa?), games (Minecraft, perhaps?) , etc. The idea is for them to have FUN creating an award blank and learn the joy of illumination! A small token of appreciation will be given to each child who enters.

The second competition will be for beginners (adults). In order to be a beginner-the participant must have less than 2 years experience with creating scrolls. For this category, the scroll may contain any theme, but bear in mind that ‘extra credit’’will be granted to those entries which are clearly related to the event theme of Night on the Piazza (Late Period Italian) !

Please forward any A&S questions to k_kalbaugh[AT]yahoo.com.
